Forgiveness!
In Allah’s All Embracing Love and Forgiveness
Peace to your hearts beloved Circle Guides and beloved Dervishes,
I would like for us to contemplate on forgiveness.
In my understanding, forgiveness is love.
I feel that without forgiveness, asking for forgiveness and offering forgiveness, we are nowhere… and life cannot proceed in a human way, or really in any way at all.
The Beloved says that HeSheHu loves to Forgive and that if we did not commit error and wrongdoing we would be replaced by a people who did…so that Allah could forgive them!
We are created by Love Itself to make mistakes, some more weighty than others, that we may be forgiven. What a deep mystery this is. And what a lifting of the veil on the unity of all being.
Among ourselves we must follow this bold movement of Love and take joy in asking for forgiveness and in offering forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness is the way to heal our own heart, for we are wounded by our own actions and thoughts. And then we heal the wounded heart of the other by our sincere request for their forgiveness. On the mystical level it is the same movement, for their heart is truly our heart, and this heart is truly Allah’s heart.
Forgiving is the same. It is love which cannot withhold itself from soothing the heart of another, truly our own heart, truly Allah’s heart.
The beloved Muhammad, may he be granted intercession for all wrong-doing, would ask forgiveness 100 times a day at least. Why? For the slightest shadow that would come over his heart, for the slightest forgetfulness before Allah? Or for the errors of humanity? I am not sure. But his action indicates that we should do the same.
May any thing that we have not yet forgiven in our dervish sister and brother and in our family be forgiven now.
Our forgiveness renews life on earth.
Thank you for forgiving me.
