Fatiha for Greta Thunberg
In the All Radiating and All Embracing Source of Love
Alhamdulillah!
Let’s offer a Fatiha and our prayers for Greta Thunberg and the environmental and social movement which is forming around her.
Let’s offer a Fatiha for the young generations who are inheriting a heavy sad burden left by their predecessors, but who are in process of finding their own voice of goodness.
Lets offer a Fatiha for the Indigenous Peoples who have embodied the sacred traditions which have protected and furthered the earth and Her family, Allah’s family, and who have suffered immensely for their way of life.
Lets offer a Fatiha for all people, particularly the disenfranchised and poor who suffer the most from environmental destruction and pollution.
Let’s offer a Fatiha for mother Nature and all her creatures who are intricately related with each other and with humanity as a single living body.
The wisdom of Koran speaks here, “And there is no creature within the earth or any being that flies on wings but they are peoples like yourselves. We have not neglected in the Book a single thing. And to their Lord they will be gathered.” (6:38)
In Greta’s courageous mission all find a voice and a purpose and a way. This is not a political party where people have to take sides, leading to more arguments and divisions. This is a movement of consciousness.
Alhamdulillah!
She is our present day Joan of Arc.
She is taking on the big dragons who are devastating the earth and its creatures, including ourselves, making future life here impossible.
There are many groups of environmental scientists, lawyers and earth care-takers but we have been missing a unifying voice. That she came to New York in a sailing boat over the rough seas of the Atlantic Ocean is a clear sign of her elected station.
That she is not part of any single group. "I'm not part of any organization, I'm absolutely independent and do what I do completely for free."
That she is a youth unspoiled by the imprint of worldliness.
That she is a young girl, which traditionally is an extremely vulnerable station.
She represents virginal Nature and the virginal Heart.
Hazreti Maryam might have been about her age or even younger when she received the Holy Spirit into her heart and womb.
Joan of Arc was a young girl of 12 or 13 when she began receiving divine messages to lead her people. Hazreti Aisha was a young girl when she was betrothed to the Messenger of Mercy to help carry his wisdom into the world.
In that day the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all. (Isaiah 11:6)
Climate change is one aspect of a much larger and more complex miasma that has formed in the earth because humanity has been separated from the Heart.
We have the plagues of pesticides, herbicides, unregulated chemicals everywhere, toxins in the entire food chain, devastation of ecological environments, vast numbers of vanishing species, toxic wastes from nuclear energy, oil, mining, and industrial farming. Rivers, oceans, earth and sky are all polluted. And there are very few people on earth who do not carry all of these same chemicals and toxins in their blood and cells.
And then we have industrial medical systems that are ignorant of how to sustain health in the human population.
We have educational institutions that are not supporting the learning of true knowledge but are instead participants in the industrial mechanisms of an unfair economic system, gearing education to mass production.
All of this. And more…
Apart from all of this, our terrible mistakes and bitter fruit, what do we have of value that we can pass on to the next generation which is now taking up the banner of responsibility?
What good fruit have we grown?
What seeds can we give to the next generation?
My heart comes with at least three things.
One is listening and hearing, and supporting the good initiatives of the youth. We are here to be on their side or behind them supporting them, as they move forward into their life and into a common life with all peoples and all life forms.
Two is to pray for them and their success.
Three is passing on the inestimable treasure, the pearl without price that Muzaffer Effendi,ra, brought from the Essence and that Nur al Anwar manifested for the West: La ilahe ilallah and Zikrullah and the Way of Sufism. And of course the Way of all the Sacred Paths, for these are the guardians of humanity.
And insha’allah this Pearl beyond price is what will restore true humanity and true humanity can restore the Earth.
Alhamdulillah!
And thank you to Greta and all those with her.
In great love
Fariha Fatima Nur
