Day of Arafat
In Allah’s All Embracing Compassion and Love
The beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, declared, “Arafat is Hajj,” and also “The best of days is the Day of Arafat.”
Standing at the foot of or on Mt. Arafat the pilgrims seek their Beloved.
Adam and Eve found each other again at Mt. Arafat.
Arif means to know. What do we come to know? We come to know the essence of our life. We come to know that Allahu ta’ala created us in pre-eternity for love and that we are His lovers. And we come to know that our love and seeking of Allah comes from Allah’s prior love and seeking us.
Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
There is no day in which Allah sets free more souls from the fire of their own negation than on the day of Arafat. On that day Allah draws near to the earth and by way of exhibiting His Pride remarks to the angels, ‘What is the desire of these servants of mine?'”
Let us answer this Divine question from our Beloved. Let us stand singly or in groups on this Day of Days and ask of Rahman for His forgiveness and eternal love.
